Wednesday was my day off since my Tuesday got switched.  I ended up relaxing and reading for most of the day and went to the orchard in the farm for a bit and hung out with Bobby (Bob Hope) and his herd.  We take them to the orchard to graze during the day.  Then Dan, Alicia, and I went to the Pukalani Superette to pick up some groceries for the dinner I made that night.  I made mom's tacos and brown rice with lemon and cilantro.  It would have been great had the rice not taken forever to cook haha.

Thursday was Erin's bday!!  It was also my first day of deliveries.  Annete taught me how to pack the cheese and then we headed out.  Thursdays our big delivery day so it's pretty much an all day event.  I'm supposed to take over next week and I def don't know my way around the island.  Thank god for maps on my iphone.  It's pretty much straight forward so it shouldn't be too bad.  It was a beautiful day as always.  It rained for a minute maybe but the funny thing about Maui is when it rains it's still sunny out.  Much different from Alaska.  I think the hardest thing for me to remember with deliveries will be where to make the drop off at each individual restaurant.  Also some are more picky and you have to deliver their cheese in their own separate cooler or have them take the temperature once you get there.  The cheese is supposed to be 40 degrees or less once delivered.  I did enjoy getting out and seeing more of Maui on the deliveries.  We go all the way to Lahaina.  After deliveries we got to take our 30 min. lunch break so we went to get shaved ice with Erin (who we dropped off at the beach on the way).  It was by far the best shaved ice I've ever had...they even put ice cream on the bottom. Mmmmmm (Jenny and Chels you'd love it!)  That night Erin, Alicia, and I went to Paella to go out for birthday dinner.  We went to flatbread which has delicious salad with a pineapple vinagrette and pizza made from local and organic ingredients.  It was actually raining hard on the way back.  It seems to rain everywhere but here at the farm.  When we got home Erin had some birthday cake her mom sent...it was a cute little microwave cake like an easy bake haha.  It made me think how strange holidays will be here.

Friday I had another day off....my schedules a little weird with Elijah being gone.  I woke up and read for a bit (I'm reading Eat Pray Love and it's wonderful) and then Alicia and I headed off to Little Beach to get our tan on.  My hair is already getting so much blonder from all the sun.  The beach was super relaxing and swimming in the ocean felt so good.  The water is really clear at this beach and Big Beach right next to Little Beach is where they have some of the best waves for the surfers.  I really want to learn how to surf before I leave.  You can also see Molokai (sp??) from the beach which is a crescent shaped island that has some of the best snorkeling.  After the beach all us intern/apprentices went to Wailuku for 1st friday which is a block party.  Maui has a block party every Friday in some different city.  It's kind of like a mini art fair with vendors and food and music.  I had a great time and it was so cool seeing some of the traditional dancing and music.  Hawaii is really starting to feel real.  It's hard at first when your so focused on learning the job and being on the farm but getting out I really realize where I am!  Below is a pic of the dancing and the Puerto Rican dinner I had.  I also got some Poi Mochi which is kind of like a donut of Poi fried.  They're so delicious but at dinner tonight Thomas, Dan, and Erin all agreed that Poi is actually not good at all and has no flavor on its own haha.  I guess I'll just have to try it that way.  Also there's a pic of Erin and I in the beer garden.

Today was another work day.  I did the AM milking with Dan (I'm getting better at it thank god) and we had to do the Saturday Grand Tour as well where we tell the tourists all about milking and show them how to hand milk as well then herd.  This is another part of the job I will be taking over after Dan leaves I guess.  After that the day was full of the usual daily chores and spreading hay.  The babies are always so intrigued by the empty bins when we clean out the kennel or add hay...it's pretty cute.  Dan and I also took another stab at trying to figure out what's wrong with Conga.  She's still not eating well and foaming.  She's starting to lose weight.  We took another look in her mouth (good lord!  it's hard to look in a goat's mouth) but saw no signs of infection.  You'd think she'd be visibly swollen if it was a really infected tooth.  Our best option at this point will be to call the vet and try and spray some betadine or something.  Hopefully we figure it out soon.  Erin made a delicious farmily dinner of shepard's pie tonight and molten lava cake.  I told Dad he's gotta send up Grammy's cookbook asap because I need to step up my cooking game haha.  Well its' off to bed...tonight I have company...one of the barn cats Ramses...lets just hope he doesn't find anything in my room I hope doesn't live in here!!  O yah and below's a pic of Strikey (the cutest dog here) with his cone head haha.  And also our feed board, a crazy big spider I found doing udder rags, Holstein the goat (hmmm I wonder why her name is Holstein ; ) and two pics of my actual tan lines from work and what you'd think is a tan line but OHP! just dirt on my legs after a day of work...grosssss
